For sand processing without cooling, or as a supplementary measure, it is recommended to commence with a pre-moisturising process after the unpacking of the casting. Vaporiser nozzles are installed on one or several tracks that spray moisture and/or water (depending on the ambient temperature) onto the used foundry sand, which is often still hot.
This increases the moisture content; the cooling effect is thereby improved and can commence earlier. Another important aspect is the resulting reduction in dust formation. In the following, the sand should be thoroughly mixed; this can be attained using a polygon sieve, sand aerator, or simply by means of a track-mounted rake.
Depending on the location of installation, it may be sensible to install a facility to dissipate the steam, so as to avoid excessive moisturising of the sand; this reduces the risk of clogging up the posterior facilities. The installation on cooling drums can be implemented with the same components.
We have already conducted numerous installations, and we are looking forward to support you with our know-how.
